Thursday 10th January - a long staying Short-toed Lark has been present since November at Castricum on the coast about 12k north east of Amsterdam. First only reported in a restricted area it was re found on new years day beside a bicycle path in the dunes and stayed in this area. It took 20 minutes to find and I could enjoy an hour alone with the bird which has been very popular all year. The Short-toed Lark is an annual vagrant in the Netherlands
